I heart you, Miz Mooz shoes!

20 Apr

All spring, I had been searching high and low (mostly low, because I like an under 3″ heel) for the perfect clog sandal to pair with my  sundresses, shorts, and skinny jeans. But alas, finding the perfect low-heel clog sandal in a size 12 is so much harder than it seems…the options either seem geriatric or too Herman Munster. My desperation hit an echoing low when I heard that Swedish Hasbeens was releasing a diffusion line for H&M…and only going up to a size 10. So are all those tall Europeans teetering around on size 10 peds? It can’t be!

When I just about gave up, I got my daily email candy from Barefoot Tess. Oh, BFT. You must have heard me cursing the shoe gods all the way up in Boston. The email featured the gorgeous, brand-new-and-up-to-size-14 ‘Renee’ clog by the inimitable Miz Mooz (one of the mid-range brands I frequently salivate over, in addition to Farylrobin and Delman). Until BFT got them in stock, the whimsical, colorful, vintage-inspired Miz Mooz designs were inaccessible, only running up to a (small) 11, thwarting me (and other stylish, tall, large-footed lasses) every time. But all that changed with Renee.

Glorious, aren't they? Available in black, red, tan, and sand

My sweet boyfriend knew how much I wanted—needed—these sandals, so was sweet enough to snap me up a pair in red—the quality of the leather and wood bottom is impeccable, and they even have a bit of cushioning to make them even easier to walk in. At $120, they’re a bit over what I’d usually spend on a pair of shoes, but they are too too cute, and will be well worth it! Be forewarned, though—they run (like most Miz Mooz shoes) about 1/2-1 size small. Another win for BFT!

Does your boyfriend have a brother? Nice guy. I agree about the shoes and especially about BFT. what a great site for women with a larger footprint. ;-)

      Hi Geri,

He’s an only…so I am particularly lucky! He really is a very nice guy, and nicer to me than I often deserve, I’d imagine! :) BFT is wonderful—thank goodness for a site that finally has cute shoes that fit (so they only choice comes down to one of style!)

I’ve had my eye on these too and I’m a 12M, did you get a 13? Thanks, Sue

      Hi Sue,

I initially ordered the 12 (M); sent them back for a 13. Don’t think I’ve ever exchanged for a 13, but Miz Mooz runs particularly tiny…

      Hope this helps!

Hi Kacy! Love your blog! I have a quick question about he Renee since you own them. What is the heel height? They are listed as having 2 3/4″ with a 1″ platform but they don’t look almost 4″ to me so I thought I would check with you. Thanks!

      Hi Kimberly!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I will get out my measuring tape when I get home, but I bet the BFT measurements are correct…although I don’t think it’s a 1″ platform on top of the actual heel height. The 1″ accounts for the slight front platform—your foot is cushioned on a MUCH flatter plane than you would normally get with a 3″+ heel, and the effect is that they’re leg-lengthening while also being more like flats to walk in.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for blog posts. And have a great day!

WOW I LOVED THE BFT WEBSITE! AND THEY POST TO THE UK! Sorry for shouting, but I am trying to contain my joy. Thanks for the pointer . . .

Have you ever heard of Naturalizer? They do large sizes, and lovely shoes. But I can’t get them over here, I can just salivate at them on my computer.

      Hi Jane,

I am so glad! Barefoot Tess is wonderful, and they really go the extra mile for their customers worldwide! I wish a greater number of businesses (especially if they have a web presence!) offered international shipping…

I might suggest checking Amazon or eBay for Naturalizer shoes in your size. A lot of times, eBay sellers stateside will offer international shipping! Best of luck, and tell me if you make out with finding any Naturalizers!

I just bought a pair of Miz-Mooz shoes myself. I love them and they are so comfy, easy to walk in, but I sent them back for a bigger size. I too needed 1/2 size bigger. Have you tried Seychelles? I love their shoes.

    • Kacy K April 5, 2012 at 4:01 pm #

Hi there, Tricia! I have tried Seychelles…I really love their shoes, stylistically, but most of their heels are a bit too high or unstable for me. I think I have found a style that suits me, though, and I plan to blog about it! :)
